Program Tracks - Areas of Interest

Track 1: Campus Initiatives
Issues, initiatives and solutions which affect or are enacted by the campus. Balancing proactive and reactive, affecting broad change during a sea-change budget year.

Track 2: School & Departmental Computing
Local issues, local solutions. How are the needs of relatively few addressed by even fewer? How are solutions molded to fit the pedagogy, and how are they impacted by campus-wide issues?

Track 3: Security, Privacy & Academic Freedom
The times they are a-changin'. How do we balance our resources against the tenets of academic exploration and freedom? How do security necessities impact workflow, and what provisions do we provide to protect productivity?

Track 4: Audience-specific Solutions
Solutions which are developed and intended for the needs of a specific audience. Students, staff for faculty-specific, or even a small workgroup. How do the needs of the audience affect the end result?

Track 5: Learning & Course Management Systems
An exploration of the history and features of learning and course management systems within the University of California. Homegrown systems, commercial offerings and the lessons derived from both paths.

Track 6: Research Computing
Support for research activities is an integral part of our University's academic mission. This track explores the efforts and resources available to research computing throughout the University of California.
